The aim of a doctoral study is to become an independent scientific researcher by conducting original research with the guidance of supervisors. It’s a diverse program with various components. Doing research and sharing the results through scientific articles are crucial parts. Additionally, the program involves training through attending educational activities, teaching, and participating in conferences. The final phase includes writing, reviewing, and defending your thesis. Successfully defending your thesis results in obtaining a doctorate (PhD) degree. Throughout the PhD program, you’ll also build your own scientific network and track record to enhance your career prospects after graduation, whether within or outside academia.
All new PhD candidates working on an oncology project at Amsterdam UMC or NKI will become members of the OOA once they have followed the registration steps and submitted the OOA Training Plan. To ensure a well-prepared and efficient start, it is essential to complete these key registration steps at the beginning of your PhD program.
